Brainbox Challenge (Parkinson’s UK)

The Parkinson’s UK Brainbox Challenge is an innovative, exciting project that uses videogame and interactive storytelling principles to carry out an entertaining fundraising campaign.
As a Pro-Bono Writer, I wrote a traditional narrative quest set in a fantasy world that referenced different symptoms of Parkinson’s disease.
Players complete the quest on walks, solving 15 virtual puzzles across a total of 30 miles. When players complete a puzzle, the next stage of the quest is unlocked.
In this project, I:
- Conceived, designed and wrote a detailed, original and empathic high-fantasy narrative that was true to Parkinson’s UK’s tone and brand, and aimed at those who have first-hand experience of Parkinson’s disease.
- Collaborated on the script with Parkinson’s UK’s creative team. This included working closely with brand copywriters.
- Received and implemented feedback on what I had written.
- Gave feedback on the narrative’s implementation.
- Suggested promoting long-term re-playability with the campaign’s narrative/puzzle mechanic.
Until the fundraiser launches on 1st October 2021, I cannot share the content of the narrative itself.
After the release, you will find a script sample on this page.
